Volunteer on the Sri Lanka Medicine Short-term Special project

Based in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s largest city, the Short-term Special Medicine project is an exciting opportunity for volunteers to experience and understand the medical systems in a developing country.

Volunteers will be under the supervision of a Projects Abroad Coordinator; and will spend time in the different departments of a general hospital, as well as visit a hospital specialising in traditional Ayurvedic medicine.

During the two weeks you will also attend an interesting workshop on medical practices in Sri Lanka, and participate in outreach activities during a two-day medical camp where you will visit a local community and an orphanage.

Projects Abroad will arrange a weekend trip to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital, which is an UNESCO World Heritage site.

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
