What will I do on this trip?
Your Discovery Tour in Nepal is filled with the outdoors, culture and adventure. This is what you’ll get up to:
Day 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu
Your arrival in Nepal will be a smooth yet exciting one as our staff collect you from the airport. They’ll take you straight to your accommodation so you and your group can freshen up before beginning your first day of authentic travel.
You’ll begin your stay with a brief introduction to Nepal before heading out on a guided tour through Swayambhunath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Often referred to as the “Monkey Temple”, the temple is located above the city on a lofty hilltop. Lord Buddha visited the site and declared it a wish-fulfilling stupa. He said that whoever was touched by the wind passing over the stupa would receive the seed of liberation from the cycle of existence.
Finish off your day with a filling dinner accompanied by a Nepali dance show. What a welcome to Nepal!
Day 2 – Patan Durbar Square, Golden Temple, Chobar and Kirtipur
You’ll start your day off with a historical introduction to Nepal as you head to Patan Durbar Square, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Golden Temple. Patan Durbar Square is an ancient royal palace in the centre of Lalitpur city and consists of a concentrated mass of temples. Some say it’s the most visually stunning display of Newari architecture seen in Nepal!
After lunch, you’ll visit Chobar and Kirtipur where you’ll enjoy a tour of the temples and viewpoints.
Day 3 – Chitwan, Tharu Village and cultural dinner/dance show
You and your group will rise early as you begin your travels to Chitwan. Use the 6-hour bus ride to catch up on some sleep or get to know your group a little better.
Once you arrive at the hotel, you’ll enjoy a quick lunch before jetting off on a tour of the Tharu Village. You’ll get to interact with the Tharu people, and learn about their culture and day-to-day lives. You’ll stay in the village for a well-deserved dinner and traditional dance show before heading back to the hotel for the night.
Day 4 – Chitwan National Park
Get ready for an outdoor adventure in Chitwan National Park. You’ll enjoy a full day of jungle safari activities including a jungle walk and canoe ride. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for many of the rare and beautiful wildlife found in the park. Chitwan is renowned for its protection of one-horned rhinos, royal Bengal tigers and gharial crocodiles.
Day 5 – Nagarkot and sunset at Himilayan viewpoint
You’ll start your day early as you and your group travel back to Kathmandu. Once you arrive, you’ll be taken to a few local markets where you can put your barter skills to the test. Think about picking up a few souvenirs or support local traders trying to grow their businesses.
After you’re all shopped out, you need to put away your purses and pull on those hiking shoes. You’ll head to Nagarkot where you’ll get to hike to some of the most famous viewpoints in Nepal. Once there, you’ll get to sit back and relax as you watch the sunset over the Himalayan Mountain Range.
Day 6 – Bhaktapur, Boudhanath Temple and Pashupatinath Temple
After breakfast, you’ll get to visit the town of Bhaktapur. You’ll get to explore the ancient temples in Bhaktapur Durbar Square and appreciate the beautiful architecture, ancient stone artistic structures and wall carvings.
After lunch, you’ll stop by at Boudhanath Temple. It’s one of the most respected Buddhist sites in Kathmandu and hundreds of Tibetan and Nepali Buddhists come to the stupa to pray. Next on your itinerary is a guided visit to Pashupatinath, a sacred place for Hindu and Buddhist followers. You may even find yourself spiritually and physically enlightened.
Day 7 – Departure from Kathmandu
After a long week together, it’s finally time to say your goodbyes. Don’t forget to exchange contact information with your group and make plans to see each other in the future. If you have a later flight, you might even be able to go out and do some final souvenir shopping.
