Volunteer in Jamaica, the Caribbean

Projects Abroad offers a number of volunteer placements on the Caribbean island of Jamaica, to people of all ages and abilities, from anywhere in the world. Whether you are retired or on a gap-year; taking a career break or on holiday from school, college, university or work; volunteering as an elective student or an intern, we have a voluntary project for you.
Projects Abroad has been organising volunteer placements since 1992 and we are the world’s leading overseas volunteering organisation. We have many different placements available in all of our countries, which means that we can offer a degree of flexibility you will not find with any other organisation – not only can you choose the project and destination that you want, the duration of the project and your own start date, but we will also work with you to find a placement which best suits your abilities and interests as a volunteer.
Volunteer placements in the Caribbean: Jamaica
We have a range of volunteering opportunities for you in Jamaica. Our Care placements offer incredible variety, from working in an orphanage or care home to being an advocate for “at risk” youths. Our Community projects are similarly diverse, ranging from cultural projects within the ex-slave “Maroon” communities to working in a disaster management agency. Volunteers can also take part in Teaching, Sports, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery projects.
Our office in Jamaica is located in the town of Mandeville, in the parish of Manchester. Projects are located in Mandeville and the surrounding area.
Travel & Tourism in the Caribbean
There is plenty of scope for visiting other parts of Jamaica whilst you are on your project; weekend trips are regularly organised by Projects Abroad staff and volunteers to places like Ocho Rios and Treasure Beach. Many volunteers will also spend a period of time broadening their horizons beyond Jamaica. The rest of the Caribbean is within easy reach to the south-east, and with Cuba to the north and the rest of Central America to the west there can be fewer better locations to start from!
